Another Devastating Video

I have not finished editing my video from Tonopah and Silver King. I am still working on the reply to the BLM.

Yet my dear fellow observer Elyse Gardner just posted this one from Twin Peaks.

http://humaneobserver.blogspot.com for more of the last few days of Twin Peaks.

It may be best to say what is going on and give us the choice as to whether or not to watch. mar

This is difficult to watch but not what I expected. It is very sad to see this horse stand with his head down after smashing his it into the overhead bar that is so low as to be unavoidable. The wrangler with the whip with the white plastic on it literally guides this horse’s head up and into the cross bar. The horse’s head makes hard contact. He is affected. He may have died later. His death may have been attributed to a different place. But is very possible this horse did die that day. There is no padding altho’ it is constantly requested. Horses die in these pens from the handling and the pens themselves. The deadly stupidity of the BLM for continuing to do these roundups with these contractors is completely beyond comprehension. This is criminal neglect. mar

you are so correct; this is a blm “genocide of our Mustangs

they treat them like as if they were “convicted criminals and not the beautiful majestic intelligent evolved beings they are

if I have to come back in another life please Lord make me a Mustang and above all; do not make me a BLM Wh & B program person; better to be a good horse than a bad man…

Bless you girl and I intensify all your prayers with my own similar ones. We can surround these beauteous creatures with sooo much love that they won’t feel sooo much fear. They do intuit our finest emotions when we are close and I am hoping that may also be true from a distance. Lizzi

Well – I have used flags (or bags on a stick) before on horses, and this was a method that Tom Dorrance (who some consider the father of Natural Horsemanship) used for PARTICULAR reasons, the secret is knowing when to do it, and knowing when not to do it. Primarily it is used for getting horses to LISTEN to you and move their feet when you ask them to, which is one of the basics of what Dorrance used to teach. However, every time I have ever seen a flag used, the horse had an escape, even if the escape was going into a trailer. It can help a horse that is having trouble with something, when used APPROPRIATELY. So, I don’t condemn using flags universally.

What the problem is here, is these guys weren’t willing to take the time that it takes to separate that mule (I am guessing that was a mule they cut out – sure looked like it), to do it with the least amount of stress, and also to prevent that horse from banging his head on that overhead bar (duh). They are using a shortcut basically, and when you use shortcuts, there are accidents.

These guys treat horses like cattle, and they are totally different creatures.

They are not horseman, that’s for sure. A good horseman (or horsewoman) understands that very often you have to work on “horse time” meaning that you work with the horse on his/her ability to learn something, not your own watch. It just takes however long it takes.

That was a really nice looking mule – very sensible acting, BTW and it wouldn’t surprise me if one of those wranglers winds up with him.

  9. Jo De George says:

genocide pure and simple. what a disgrace. we are dealing with soulless and mindless people who are inflicting tragedy upon innocent, wild and free horses.

  10. Darcy says:

I cried all day after watching this. I hate what is happening to our horses.

  11. LOUIE COCROFT says:

Nell, a GOOD HORSEMAN would not be having any part of any of these round-ups. They would not be able to stomach any of it.

  13. jean says:

I don’t know what to say anymore!! It goes on and on and they continue to do whatever they please. We have one tragedy after another and how they’re getting away with this is unconscionable. The pressure put on them with lawsuits must continue and we must continue to speak out. The future of these beautiful horses are in our hands and we must do everything humanely possible to help, before it’s too late. Never give up!!!

  14. Anna says:

yeah the roundups seem to be getting worse not better ! omg

hey listen the stallion who hit his head; WHAT IF …

WHAT IF the Stallion was merely unconsicous and had suffered a concussion and was merely passed out

DID THE BLM CHECK THE FOR A HEARTBEAT ?

OR DID THE BLM bury the stallion while he was alive?

THIS IS A NIGHTMERE ! somebody wake me up please !
