Horse Speed in MPH – How fast is your horse going?
Horses speed varies with their stride length, body build, and other factors, but here is a basic idea of how fast– in miles per hour– horses move at their various gaits:
Walk: Roughly 3-4 MPH.
Trot: The trot is roughly 8-10 MPH.
Canter/Lope: 10-17 MPH.
Gallop: This depends on the horse’s condition and athletic ability. Some horses are not built to run fast an may only do a fast canter at best; however, the gallop is about 30 mph.
Gallop = All four feet off the ground at the same time. In the second photo, the brown mustang isn’t bearing weight on any of his legs, so he and the others are being chased down the chute at a gallop.
How fast does your horse move?
Measure a mile’s distance and time your horse’s walk and trot to see how many MPH your horse goes. Be careful of the footing so your horse doesn’t get sore or go lame.

How disgraceful this all is. To mistreat animals in such a manner. The Carttoor are criminals. Dave Carttoor just wants all of these creatures dead and he will run as many to death as he can…then shoot the ones that escape and the try and cover it up. Action needs to be taken against the Carttoors immediately. We really need to zero in on these people and bring major lawsuits against them. This is beyond cruelty.
